Rct. Andrew D. Warner, an 18-year-old native of Massillon, Ohio, is currently training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island, S.C., in hopes of earning the title United States Marine. Warner is training with Platoon 3065, India Company, 3rd Recruit Training Battalion, and is scheduled to graduate Sept. 2, 2016. “I joined to be a better person,” said Warner, who graduated from Washington High School in 2016. “I didn’t work hard in school, and I believe the Marine Corps will push me to try harder in life.” Approximately 19,000 recruits come to Parris Island annually for the chance to become United States Marines by enduring 13 weeks of rigorous training. Parris Island is home to entry-level enlisted training for 49 percent of males and 100 percent of females in the Marine Corps. (Photo by Cpl. Vanessa Austin)
