U.S. Army 1st Lt. Kendall Ward, assigned to 173rd Infantry Brigade Combat Team (Airborne), becomes the first soldier to complete the running portion of the Army Physical Fitness Test (APFT) at the the 7th U.S. Army's Noncommissioned Officer Academy during the 2016 European Best Warrior Competition held at the 7th Army Training Command's Grafenwoehr Training Area, Germany, Aug. 8, 2016. The intense, grueling annual week-long competition is the most prestigious competitive event of the region. Event organizers will announce the year's top junior officer, noncommissioned officer and Soldier during a concluding ceremony scheduled for Aug. 11 at the Grafenwoehr Physical Fitness Center.
