Alex Ramiro, a 5th grader at Diamond Elementary School in Santa Ana, California, has a seat in the cockpit of a California National Guard UH-60 Black Hawk on July 20, his reward for designing the farthest-flying paper plane in his aerodynamics class at the Cal Guard's STARBASE program the day before. Alex and classmates from Diamond participated in a three-day enrichment program that focused on aviation July 18-20 at the STARBASE science and math program on the Cal Guard's Joint Forces Training Base Los Alamitos.
