USS MAKIN ISLAND, at sea – Reconnaissance Marines with the Maritime Raid Force, 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit prepare to push their combat rubber raiding craft off the USS Makin Island (LHD 8) and out to sea during a reconnaissance and surveillance mission during Amphibious Squadron – MEU Integration Exercise (PMINT) July 14, 2016. A MEU’s MRF detachment provides a number of unique capabilities to the MEU commander such as: visit, board, search and seizure; reconnaissance and surveillance and precision raids.
