160720-N-KH151-024 SOUTH CHINA SEA (July 20, 2016) Seaman David Powell, from Fredericksburg, Virginia, receives an update through a sound-powered headset from one of his fellow lookouts aboard the Navy’s only forward-deployed aircraft carrier, USS Ronald Reagan (CVN 76) during a fantail lookout watch. Four lookouts stand the watch at any given time throughout the ship, three of them on the ship’s island and one on the fantail. Ronald Reagan, the Carrier Strike Group Five (CSG 5) flagship, is on patrol in the U.S. 7th Fleet area of responsibility supporting security and stability in the Indo-Asia-Pacific region.
