Horst Weber, member of the Bitburg Area Historical Club, explains the markings on the engine cowling of a P-47D Thunderbolt during a press event, March 24. The wreckage was discovered, Feb. 24 after being buried for 65 years. German and American reports detail that, Feb. 14, 1945, an American P-47D was shot down in the area.
