Retired Air Force Maj. Gen. Martha Rainville speaks at the National Guard Memorial in Washington, D.C., March 25, about the challenges and accomplishments of women in the National Guard. Rainville served in the Vermont National Guard. In 1997, she became that state's adjutant general and was the first women ever to serve as such, nationwide.
