During the final exercise of Operation Forest Light two Marine platoons from Combat Assault Battalion, 3rd Marine Division and two Japanese platoons with the Japanese Ground Self Defense Force, took out several targets throughout Nihonbara Training Area in mainland Japan. Maps and radion were used to coordinate troop movement as well as mock air strikes and artillery fire.
