160527-N-WI365-128 ULAANBAATAR, Mongolia (May 26, 2016) – Sgt. Maj. Mike Grunst, the senior enlisted advisor of U.S. troops for Khaan Quest 2016 and U.S. Marine GySgt. Robert Morrill, a survival training instructor, assigned to the 3rd Reconnaissance Battalion, dig a hole for a solar still during a survival training course where service members with the Mongolian Armed Forces, Alaska National Guard, the U.S. Marine Corps’ 3rd Reconnaissance Battalion, and Czech Armed Forces will be training throughout the week to enhance survival tactics as part of Khaan Quest 2016. Kyle Khaan Quest 2016 is an annual, multinational peacekeeping operations exercise hosted by the Mongolian Armed Forces, co-sponsored by U.S. Pacific Command, and supported by U.S. Army Pacific and U.S. Marine Corps Forces, Pacific. Khaan Quest, in its 14th iteration, is the capstone exercise for this year’s Global Peace Operations Initiative program. The exercise focuses on training activities to enhance international interoperability, develop peacekeeping capabilities, build to mil-to-mil relationships, and enhance military readiness.
