KAILUA –Students from Aikahi Elementary School cheered and waved their flags during the school’s annual Yellow Ribbon Day event in Kailua, Hawaii, April 8, 2016. April is national month of the military child and this month of awareness was established to recognize the children play in the Armed Forces community. Parents and volunteers helped setup this event to acknowledge and honor the children who have family members in the military. Military parents went to classrooms putting leis on children, thanking them for supporting their family members in the Armed Services. The school had an assembly honoring the children and hosted the Marine Forces, Pacific Party Band. Marine Wing Support Detachment 24 signed a contract with the school, to promising to support the school in an adopt-a-school program. (U.S. Marine Corps Photo by Lance Cpl. Jesus Sepulveda Torres)
