Ghanaian navy Lt. j.g. Frank Boateng, a student participating in Africa Partnership Station West aboard the Whidbey Island-class amphibious dock-landing ship USS Gunston Hall, brings his practice weapon to the ready position on the pier as his instructor, Petty Officer 2nd Class Corey Brown, electronics technician, from Wells, Maine, shows him the proper stance during a civil disturbance training practical exercise. Gunston Hall is on a scheduled deployment in West Africa in support of APS West, an international initiative developed by Naval Forces Europe and Naval Forces Africa that aims to improve maritime safety and security in West and Central Africa.
