GULF OF ADEN (May 17, 2016) Aviation Boatswain’s Mate (Handling) Airman Fernando Portugal signals to the pilot of an MV-22 Osprey helicopter, assigned to Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron (VMM) 166 (Reinforced), as it prepares to land on the flight deck of amphibious assault ship USS Boxer (LHD 4). Boxer is the flagship for the Boxer Amphibious Ready Group and, with the embarked 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit, is deployed in support of maritime security operations and theater security cooperation efforts in the U.S. 5th Fleet area of operations.
