During his visit, McDonald received a mission brief, held an enlisted all call, visited Airmen throughout the unit, and flew on a Team JSTARS mission in order to learn more about Joint STARS operations. Team JSTARS is a unit consisting of the U.S. Air Force active duty 461st Air Control Wing, Georgia Air National Guard 116th Air Control Wing and Army JSTARS. Collectively they fly the E-8C Joint STARS providing joint airborne command and control, intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance and battle management over land and water to combat commanders around the globe.
