Sgt. Nicolas Schroeder, an infantryman assigned to Headquarters and Headquarters Troop, 3rd Squadron, 2nd Cavalry Regiment, bounds away from enemy contact during the dry-run of a breaking contact and trench clearing exercise, April 19, at Adazi Military Base, Latvia. Canadian and Latvian soldiers also participated in the exercise as a part of Summer Shield XIII, a two-week long interoperability exercise. American soldiers in the region supporting Operation Atlantic Resolve joined allies from Latvia, Canada, Lithuania and Germany for the annual training event.
