160323-N-OI810-027 YOKOSUKA, Japan (March 23, 2016) Sailors and a Japanese contractor prepare to rebuild a retractable shiv on the flight deck of the U.S. Navy's only forward-deployed aircraft carrier USS Ronald Reagan (CVN 76). The retractable shiv guides the arresting cable to the flight deck during aircraft recovery. Ronald Reagan provides a combat-ready force that protects and defends the collective maritime interests of the U.S. and its allies and partners in the Indo-Asia-Pacific region.
