31st Marine Expeditionary Unit       

U.S. Marine Col. Romin Dasmalchi, the commanding officer of 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, and Navy Capt. Ed Thompson, the commander of Amphibious Squadron 11, speak with Army Gen. Curtis Scaparotti, commander of U.S. Forces Korea, during his visit to the USS Bonhomme Richard (LHD 6) as part of Ssang Yong 16, March 12, 2016. Scaparotti and other U.S. and international commanders involved in Ssang Yong visited the ship to learn more about the capabilities of the 31st MEU and the Bonhomme Richard Amphibious Ready Group. Ssang Yong is a biennial combined amphibious exercise conducted by U.S. forces with the Republic of Korea Navy and Marine Corps, Australian Army and Royal New Zealand Army forces in order to strengthen interoperability and working relationships across a wide range of military operations.
