Maj. Timothy Novak, a navigator with the 109th Airlift Wing, exits an LC-130 Hercules on the flightline at Stratton Air National Guard Base in Scotia, N.Y., after returning from Antarctica to the base near Schenectady, on March 8, 2016. The wing, which flies the only ski-equipped aircraft in the U.S. military flies transportation missions in support of the National Science Foundation as part of Operation Deep Freeze, the military support to the U.S. Antarctic Program.
