CAMP PENDLETON, Calif. (Feb. 20, 2016) - Sailors assigned to deck department hand signal vehicle movements of amphibious assault vehicles (AAV) onto the main vehicle stowage area during a well deck operation aboard amphibious transport dock ship USS Somerset (LPD 25), as part of Exercise Iron Fist 2016. Iron Fist is an annual bilateral training exercise between the Japan Ground Self Defense Force and Marines to strengthen warfighting capabilities in ship to shore operations. Marines, assigned to the 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit, are currently embarked on Somerset for the final phase of the exercise.
