U.S. Army Brig. Gen. Mark Spindler, Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency (DPAA) deputy director, center, digs with Staff Sgt. Joshua Slotnick, DPAA recovery noncommissioned officer, during his visit at a recovery site in Xekong province, Laos, Feb. 2, 2016. During his visit, Spindler toured excavation operations of the recovery team’s search for a U.S. Air Force pilot and navigator lost in an F-4D aircraft crash in the spring of 1971.
