Loaded with more than 80 personnel and 7 tons of cargo, a U.S. Air Force C-17 Globemaster III, assigned to the 437th Airlift Wing at Joint Base Charleston, S.C., sits on the flightline at Whiteman Air Force Base, Mo., Jan. 24, 2016. Members of the 442nd Fighter Wing will meet their wing’s A-10 Thunderbolt II aircraft at Patrick AFB, Fla., to provide close air support during a combat search and rescue exercise. The C-17 is capable of rapid strategic delivery of troops and cargo to main operating bases or directly to forward bases in deployed areas.
