PEARL HARBOR (Jan. 27, 2016) Sailors past and present honored Pearl Harbor survivor Coxswain John S. Pidcock with an ash-scattering ceremony at the USS Utah Memorial on Ford Island, Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam. Pidcock was stationed aboard the USS Tangier (AV-8) during the 1941 Japanese attacks on Pearl Harbor. Pidcock passed away on New Year’s Day of 2008. His wife, Bonnie, saved his remains until after she died so the family could bring them both to Pearl Harbor and be scattered in the waters so they could be together again, forever and join his friends and shipmates lost that fateful day in 1941.
