The 8th Theater Sustainment Command's Defense Coordinating Element (DCE) Soldiers are participating in a joint training exercise on the Department of Defense Support to Civil Authorities Automated Support System taught by the Department of Defense and Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) personnel, Jan. 11. The DCE is charged with supporting the U.S. Army Pacific mission of providing responsive, synchronized coordination of U.S. armed forces personnel and resources in the event of a crisis to minimize impacts to the American people, the state of Hawaii's infrastructure and environment, the territory of American Samoa and the U.S. possessions in the Central Pacific.
