151209-N-WK391-013 PACIFIC OCEAN (Dec. 9, 2015) Hull Technician 3rd Class Steve Byrne, from Assault Craft Unit (ACU) 5, grinds off burs from a piece of steel for a landing craft air cushion (LCAC) aboard amphibious transport dock ship USS New Orleans (LPD 18), which is part of the Boxer Amphibious Ready Group (ARG). The Boxer ARG is off the coast of Southern California completing a certification exercise (CERTEX). CERTEX is the final evaluation of the 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit (13th MEU) and Boxer ARG prior to deployment and is intended to certify their readiness to conduct integrated missions across the full spectrum of military operations.
