Sgt. Alexander A. Nestor, a primary marksmanship instructor with Marksmanship Training Company, Weapons and Field Training Battalion, teaches recruits of India Company, 3rd Recruit Training Battalion, about marksmanship fundamentals Nov. 24, 2015, on Parris Island, S.C. For one week, recruits learn and practice the fundamentals of marksmanship before shooting live ammunition the following week. Nestor, 29, is from Fredericksburg, Va. India Company is scheduled to graduate Jan. 8, 2016. Parris Island has been the site of Marine Corps recruit training since Nov. 1, 1915. Today, approximately 19,000 recruits come to Parris Island annually for the chance to become United States Marines by enduring 13 weeks of rigorous, transformative training.
