Petty Officer 3rd Class Kelly Norris, aviation boatswain's mate (handling), from Cumby, Texas, monitors the Ouija board and uses a sound-powered telephone in flight deck control to coordinate with the visual landing aid watch stander aboard the Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS John C. Stennis. The Ouija board is used to map the progress and location of aircraft on the flight deck. John C. Stennis is conducting carrier qualifications for fleet replacement squadron pilots off the coast of Southern California.
