Pfc. Derek Castro of Dandan, Saipan interacts with curious Iraqi boys in Taji, Iraq, while on a personal security detachment with the U.S. Army 490th Civil Affairs Unit. The 490th Civil Affairs Unit travels out into the local populous of Iraq surveying and assessing ongoing and potential humanitarian projects, like new schools, irrigation and housing, to help friendly nationals improve their quality of life.
