    Recruits of Bravo Company, 1st Recruit Training Battalion, use packs as flotation devices during water survival training Nov. 16, 2015, on Parris Island, S.C. Water survival qualification, one of seven graduation requirements, also includes leaping from a 10-foot tower, treading water for four minutes and shedding combat equipment underwater. Bravo Company is scheduled to graduate Jan. 15, 2016. Parris Island has been the site of Marine Corps recruit training since Nov. 1, 1915. Today, approximately 19,000 recruits come to Parris Island annually for the chance to become United States Marines by enduring 13 weeks of rigorous, transformative training.
