A volunteer at the Post Office at Kandahar Airfield, Afghanistan, prepares to catch a package pitched by one of the full time eployees here. With so many parcels to be loaded off palets and sorted, the preferred method at the KAF Post Office is called "palet pitching." It consists of palets being unloaded to rolling bins through the air with a pitcher at the palet and a catcher at the bin. One 3,200 pound palet can be fully sorted in as little as ten minutes.
