Prior to returning to command the 2nd Stryker Cavalry Regiment in Afghanistan, then U.S. Army Capt. DJ Skelton, left, is pictured with his first sergeant, Sgt. 1st Class James O. Bishop while in command of Company E, 229th Military Intelligence Battalion. In spite of Skelton’s grave injuries in 2004 in Iraq, Skelton fought for several years to stay on active duty and return to combat.
