WASHINGTON (Nov. 17, 2015) Dr. Larry Schuette, left, director, Office of Research (Discovery and Invention), discusses some artifacts on display at the Canadian Embassy during the 75th anniversary commemoration of the Tizard Mission to Sean J. Stackley, assistant secretary of the Navy for research, development and acquisition, while Chief of Naval Research, Rear Adm. Mat Winter looks on. In 1940, Sir Henry Tizard and a small British delegation brought with them to the United States and Canada plans for more than 20 technologies, most importantly the cavity magnetron, which made possible radars that were both small and powerful.
