Marines with Combat Logistics Battalion 11, 1st Marine Logistics Group, I Marine Expeditionary Force, hike up Engineer Hill on their way to conduct land navigation as part of the Basic Combat Skills Course aboard Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, Calif., Nov. 16, 2015. Hiking and patrolling serve as an integral part of BCSC, which allows the Marines to integrate tactical communication and the countering of improvised explosive devices. The culminating event of the course takes place on the final day of the week and incorporates explosive counter measures, enemy contact drills and room clearing in small team elements.
