(Nov. 15, 2015) – The San Diego State University (SDSU) Underwater Robotics Team pictured with their 2015 International RoboSub competition winner “Defiance” on display at the Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command (SPAWAR) sponsored For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology (FIRST) LEGO league robotics qualifying tournament at Eastlake High School. Every SDSU team member came up through the FIRST LEGO competition as children. More than 60 SPAWAR volunteers donated their time, including coaching and mentoring eighteen of the twenty-four competing teams. As the Navy's Information Dominance systems command, SPAWAR supports and strongly encourages students to pursue careers in the Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) fields.
