PHILIPPINE SEA (Nov. 9, 2015) Sailors from the submarine tender USS Emory S. Land (AS 39) fire the M240B machine gun as part of live fire training while Emory S. Land is at sea. Weapons qualification courses enable Sailors to stand armed watches and helps deter aggression from possible threats. Emory S. Land is a forward deployed expeditionary submarine tender on an extended deployment conducting coordinated tended moorings and afloat maintenance in the U.S. 5th and 7th Fleet areas of responsibility.
