Cunningham, a 43-year-old Amphibious Assault Vehicle mechanic with Combat Logistics Battalion 22, 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit, and native of Gettysburg, S.D., takes the first bite of the Marine Corps' birthday cake, as the oldest Marine present, during the 234th Marine Corps Birthday celebration aboard amphibious dock landing ship USS Fort McHenry as the ship transits the Suez Canal from the Red Sea to the Mediterranean Sea Nov. 10.
