    Recruits of November Company, 4th Recruit Training Battalion, do a flexed-arm hang during their initial strength test Oct. 30, 2015, on Parris Island, S.C. The minimum physical requirements for female recruits to begin training are 44 crunches in two minutes, a 12 second flexed-arm hang and a 1.5-mile run in 15 minutes. November Company is scheduled to graduate Jan. 22, 2016. Parris Island has been the site of Marine Corps recruit training since Nov. 1, 1915. Today, approximately 19,000 recruits come to Parris Island annually for the chance to become United States Marines by enduring 13 weeks of rigorous, transformative training.
