Portuguese aircraft rescue and firefighers observe U.S. Marine Corps MV-22 Osprey aircraft on takeoff. The Portuguese, Spanish and U.S. team demonstrated the Allied Maritime Basing Initiative by launching U.S. Marine Corps MV-22 Osprey aircraft from the Spanish ship Juan Carlos I to pick up Portuguese Marines at a Fuzileiros training base outside of Lisbon, Portugal and inserting them at their exercise objective. Exercise Trident Juncture includes more than 30 nations and 36,000 service members from 230+ units and is designed to show the NATO team’s capability to respond to threats together.
