Sgt. Johnny Morris, an explosive ordinance disposal technician for Route Clearance Platoon 3, Mobility Assault Company, 2nd Combat Engineer Battalion, checks the sand for a possible roadside bomb after his compact metal detector received a metallic read in the sand in Helmand province, Afghanistan, Nov. 14. The sweep was conducted after RCP-3 was hit by a roadside bomb. The platoon did not suffer casualties.
