The Chicago Bulls celebrated Veterans Day by honoring military members during their pre-game festivities Nov. 10. Four Soldiers from the 101st Airborne Division, Fort Campbell, Ky., were introduced on center court and each Soldier was given a personalized Bulls jersey with their name on it. The 101st Soldiers were: Sgt. Hill, Spc. Massingill, Spc. Flower and Sgt. Bennet. Afterwards, four of the NBA players, autographed their new basketball jerseys and took photographs with the Soldiers. In addition, Illinois Army National Guard sergeant and Iraq veteran, Sgt. John Hodgson, 933rd Military Police Company, was highlighted along with four other service members from the other branches. Hodgson and the other military members were introduced on court, to a cheering crowd of over 18,000, and then slapped each of the NBA players a high-five as they ran onto the court. Even the Chicago Bulls mascot, "Benny the Bull," got in on the Veterans Day action with a camouflaged uniform that day. Afterwards, they were each given a Chicago Bulls basketball and the players came by to autograph them. "The best part," according to Hodgson, they got to participate in the team huddle to get psyched up for the game.
