151020-N-JC374-240 ARABIAN GULF (Oct. 20, 2015) Eric Sharp, an unmanned underwater vehicle (UUV) operator assigned to Commander, Task Group (CTG) 56.1, recovers a MK 18 MOD 2 UUV after an operational test. The MK 18 MOD 2 UUV uses side scan sonar to search and discover objects of interest. CTG 56.1 conducts mine countermeasures, explosive ordnance disposal, salvage-diving, and force protection operations throughout the U.S. 5th Fleet area of operations.
