    Capt. Edward Brands, from Commander, Submarine Group 7 Detachment Alpha, thanks Henry Drexel Jr. (right), a Yeoman First Class during WWII, after receiving a Special Congressional Recognition certificate from Congressman David Wu (center). Wu and Brands presented certificates to more than 40 veterans at Navy Operational Support Center, Portland Nov. 14. The purpose of the ceremony was to recognize veterans residing within the Oregon First Congressional District who served aboard merchant ships during WWII, and veterans who served in the Vietnam War and were eligible to receive either the Vietnam Service Medal, the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, or the Vietnam Campaign Medal.
