Lt. Cmdr. Grant Watanabe, Navy Installations Command’s facility support branch head, works with civilian contractor Mickey Jennett as he installs the Navy’s first telematics device on a Navy Installations Command duty vehicle at the Washington Navy Yard. Approximately 3,330 government vehicles will be installed with telematics devices over the next 90 days throughout CONUS and OCONUS bases including Guantanamo Bay, Hawaii, and Guam. This initiative – a partnership between Navy Installations Command and Naval Facilities Engineering Command (NAVFAC) – is one of several energy initiatives taking place across the shore enterprise world-wide.
