Omar Gutierrez and 2-year-old daughter Cassie spend the day together at Joint Forces Training Base Los Alamitos in Orange County on Oct. 2 before the California National Guardsman deploys to Fort Hood, Texas, and then Kuwait. Gutierrez works in quality control on UH-60 Black Hawk helicopters for the California National Guard's 640th Aviation Support Battalion, 40th Combat Aviation Brigade.
