    Recruits of Charlie Company, 1st Recruit Training Battalion, listen to their drill instructor during the 12 Stalls event at Edson Range, Weapons and Field Training Battalion, Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, Calif., Sept. 23. The recruits’ drill instructors briefed the parameters of each challenge and set the expectations for the recruits before they began. Today, all males recruited from west of the Mississippi are trained at MCRD San Diego. The depot is responsible for training more than 16,000 recruits annually. Charlie Company is scheduled to graduate Oct. 2.
