Spc. Anthony Cometa, shown here during his deployment to southwest Asia in 2004, was the Nevada Guard's first casualty of the Global War on Terrorism. Cometa was honored in 2013 with the field maintenance shop at the Las Vegas Readiness Center being named in his honor. Earlier this year, his mother, Nancy Cometa-Fontana, came to the shop for an emotional visit.
