Guam-Based Coast Guard crew provides humanitarian relief during Western Pacific Patrol [Image 5 of 6]
Ensign Thomas Bondurant (right) and Chief Petty Officer James Jarden (left) used their time ashore on Onoun Island, Namonuito Atoll, Aug. 22, 2015, to help coat a local fishing skiff with high-visibility international orange paint following a boating safety workshop hosted by the Coast Guard Cutter Sequoia (WLB 215) crew. Under the Compact of Free Association, the U.S. Coast Guard helps provide search and rescue capability in the Federated States of Micronesia as part of the historically strong and continuing relationship between the two countries and painting the skiffs greatly increases the chances of being spotted by search and rescue personnel in the air or on the water should they encounter a distress situation.
