U.S Army Soldiers and Lithuanian Land Forces Soldiers stand at attention during the closing ceremony of Exercise Engineer Thunder held at the Great Lithuanian Hetman Jonusas Radvila Training Regiment, in Rukla, Lithuania, Sept. 11, 2015. A moment of silence was observed for the fallen following the attacks on Sep. 11, 2001, America’s worst attack on it’s own soil since the attack on Pearl Harbor, Dec. 7, 1941. Engineer Thunder brought together the infantry, explosive ordinance disposal, and engineer units from both nations for a four-day training event culminating in a final exercise employing everything the units had learned from each other. Along with their Lithuanian partners, U.S. Army paratroopers assigned to Dog Company, 1st Battalion, 503rd Infantry Regiment, 173rd Airborne Brigade, EOD Soldiers with A Company, 103rd Brigade Engineer Battalion, 173rd Airborne Brigade, and engineers from Pennsylvania National Guard unit A Company, 54th Engineer Battalion, 173rd Airborne Brigade, trained together as part of a larger ongoing NATO operation in Europe called Atlantic Resolve.
