    Sgt. Giovani Cubias, a primary marksmanship instructor, teaches recruits of Platoon 2081, Golf Company, 2nd Recruit Training Battalion, marksmanship fundamentals Sept. 9, 2015, on Parris Island, S.C. For one week, recruits learn and practice the fundamentals of marksmanship before shooting live rounds the following week. Cubias, 25, is from Bluffton, S.C. Golf Company is scheduled to graduate Oct. 23, 2015. Parris Island has been the site of Marine Corps recruit training since Nov. 1, 1915. Today, approximately 20,000 recruits come to Parris Island annually for the chance to become United States Marines by enduring 13 weeks of rigorous, transformative training.
