The guided-missile destroyer USS Gridley, right, and the guided -missile destroyer USS Howard steam behind the aircraft carrier USS Ronald Reagan during a replenishment at sea evolution. Guided- missile destroyers operate independently for support of carrier and expeditionary strike groups and surface strike groups. The Ronald Reagan Carrier Strike Group is on a routine deployment, currently operating in the U.S. 3rd Fleet area of responsibility.
