A simulated bomb drop was conducted as part of a B-1 close air support kinetic demonstration during the 2015 Dakota Thunder airshow and open house at Ellsworth Air Force Base, S.D., Aug. 15, 2015. CAS missions require coordination with Joint Terminal Air Controllers who are on the ground directing the aircraft to its target. This capability has been a primary mission of the B-1 in support of combatant commanders overseas for the past 15 years. (U.S. Air Force photo by Senior Airman Anania Tekurio/Released)
