From left to right, retired Staff Sgt. Ronald Dunlap, retired 1st Sgt. Edward Stoneking, retired Maj. Renee Miller McDonald and Capt. Chad Scott, place a Somalia streamer on the 24th Transportation Company’s guidon July 11 during the fifth annual “Truckmasters” reunion at Fort Riley’s Moon Lake. The streamer represented the company’s participation in Operation Restore Hope 22 years ago. The humanitarian operation was a success in alleviating the mass starvation of the Somali people; constructing and improving 2,000 kilometers of road; and helping open schools, hospitals and orphanages in the southern region of Somalia. The company is based at Fort Riley and falls under the 541st Combat Sustainment Support Battalion, 1st Infantry Division Sustainment Brigade.
